Abstract: RING finger proteins belong to a large family of the zinc finger proteins. They become the third-largest protein family in Arabidopsis. A total of 488 RING finger protein genes were retrieved in rice genome. The most typical structural characteristic is the RING finger domain they contained. RING finger proteins participate physiological and biochemical processes in plant cells mostly through ubiquitin pathway. This paper introduced the structural characteristics and classification of plant RING finger proteins, summarized the subcellular localization, and reviewed their regulation roles in response to plant abiotic stress such as drought stress, temperature stress, and salt stress.

Key words: RING finger protein, Abiotic stress, Ubiquitin ligase E3
