1. Submission. Submitted manuscripts are via an online submission system (http://biotech.aiijournal.com). The online submission system will automatically send an e-mail to authors if successful submission of a manuscript.
2. Preliminary Review. The editorial office first review whether the general content of the manuscript fits the scope of the journal, and whether the writing of the paper is standardized. Then the manuscript will be assigned to managing editors for Preliminary Review and complete article Similarity Check(CNKI-Academic Misconduct Literature Check), and Submission Similarity Score should no more than 20% based on Biotechnology Bulletin Ethical Guidelines. Preliminary Review is normally completed no more than 2 weeks.
3. Peer review. The managing editors will send the manuscripts that have passed the Preliminary Review to no less than two reviewers for peer review. The peer review form of Biotechnology Bulletin is double-anonymous peer review, and it normally takes 4 weeks for Peer review process.
4. Revise. Authors would revise their manuscripts in terms of review comments. Normally, authors are asked to submit back their revision and the description document (Response to Comments), within 6 weeks. Some of the revised version should be double-reviewed.
5. Recommended Final Decision. The managing editor will submit the received review comments together with the author's revision explanation and revised manuscript to the deputy editor-in-chief for review, and the deputy editor-in-chief will give a recommended final decision.
6. Final Review. Editor-in-Chief makes a final decision for ACCEPT or REJECT. It normally takes 2 weeks.
7. Editing and Processing. Managing editor is responsible for editing and proofing, which usually takes 2 weeks.
After submission, authors may login in to the journal's homepage submission system to inquire, and follow up the review process with manuscript number.
The accepted manuscript will be published online within 2 weeks after editing, and the printed version will be arranged after proofing. The length from submission to publication is approximate 16 weeks.
The review process usually does not exceed 2 months. Authors are not allowed to transfer their manuscripts to other journals before receiving the official rejection notice, so as not to cause unnecessary troubles such as redundant submissions for one manuscript.
