Abstract: In order to explore the effect of bio-remedying petroleum-contaminated soil, the biological stimulation and biological enhancement technologies were employed to study the changes of petroleum hydrocarbon component, surface tension, the quantity of microorganism, and enzyme activity index in the remediation process. The results showed that biological stimulation was better than biological enhancement in the degradation of saturated hydrocarbon, the reduction of the surface tension, increasing the quantity of microorganism, and the improving enzyme activity;while biological enhancement degraded refractory aromatic hydrocarbon better than biological stimulation, each of them had its own advantages.

Key words: petroleum-contaminated soil, biological stimulation, biological enhancement
