Abstract: Gibberellin(GA)could promote seed germination and plant growth. Recent studies show that gibberellin plays an equally important role in the response of plant to abiotic stress. Plants increase stress tolerance by regulating GA biosynthesis, signal transduction and biological activity. In this paper we review the role of GA in response to common types of abiotic stress. The mechanisms of the synthesis, signal transduction and regulation of GA as well as the relationship with other hormones in response to abiotic stress are analyzed.

Key words: gibberellin, abiotic stress, regulatory mechanism, other hormones
