Abstract: As a kind of important medicine intermediate in ibuprofen synthesis, the demand and application of 2-phenylpropionic acid(2-PPA)is increased year by year. In this study, the reaction conditions for the biotransformation of cumune to 2-PPA by wild type Rhodococcus sp. G14 was investigated. Using response surface optimization, the best medium condition for growth which could result 19.82 of OD600 in batch cultivation was obtained. After single factor experiment on reaction time, reaction temperature, OD600, concentration of substrate, osmotic treatment, 14.30 mg/L of 2-PPA was obtained, which would benefit the subsequent optimization.
