Abstract: Heat stress has become one of the most devastating factors limiting the rice production, especially at the reproductive stage. Elucidating the molecular and genetic mechanism is therefore significant for improving the heat tolerance of rice varieties by genetic engineering or maker assisted selection. In this paper, we review the research advances on heat-tolerance QTL, transcript and protein response to heat stress, and genetic engineering for heat tolerance in rice.
