On November 22, 2019, the Office of the Action Plan for Excellence of Chinese Sci-Tech Periodicals announced the Notice on the Selection of Excellence Action Plan for China’s STM Journals, and Biotechnology Bulletin was assessed to be qualified in the echelon periodical project. This is the first time that Biotechnology Bulletin was successfully approved in national periodical project.
The selection of Biotechnology Bulletin into the Excellence Action Plan for China’s STM Journals would greatly promote the further development of the Biotechnology Bulletin. Biotechnology Bulletin will further be improved in the construction of academic quality, academic influence. It fully plays the important carrier function for the exchange and dissemination of scientific and technological innovation achievements, and thus promotes the innovation and development in the field of biology.
Biotechnology Bulletin is an academic journal in biology supervised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and sponsored by the Agricultural Information Institute of CAAS. Currently it is the Core Journal of China by the Peking University Library , Source Journal for Chinese Scientific and Technical Papers and Citations by the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China (ISTIC), Core Academic Journal of RCCSE (Research Center for Chinese Science Evaluation)in China (A) by Wuhan University, and the Core Journal of China Agriculture. It has been accepted for the inclusion in CSCD (Chinese Science Citation Database) by National Science Library of Chinese Academy of Sciences, CA, SinoMed, CBM , CSTPCD and CNKI.
An English version of Biotechnology Bulletin, aBIOTECH was launched in 2018,and the chief-editor is Professor Yunde ZHAO of the University of California, San Diego. aBIOTECH targets in international high-impact academic journal, the content focuses on the latest research results related to plant biotechnology. aBIOTECH was launched in Springer Nature in June 2019 and has published 8 articles online, which has attracted broad attentions from researchers in plant science.
The Excellence Action Plan for China’s STM Journals was launched jointly by the China Association for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the State Press and Publication Administration, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. It is targeted on building world top sci-tech journals. It is a most powerful, most funded, the most extensive support project in the field of science and technology periodicals in China so far. There are 837 journals (495 in Chinese and 342 publications in English) and 25 cluster pilot institutes participating in the application. Final selection of 22 leading journals, 29 key journals, 199 echelon journals, 30 high-starting-point journals, 5 cluster pilots. In addition, there are 5 journals selected into this Action Plan from Biotechnology Bulletin’s supervisor Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
