Abstract: Soil salinity is a global ecological problem, which has a great negative impact on ecological environment and agricultural production. Researches showed that Phospholipase D(PLD)was a key enzyme in catalyzing lipids and response to abiotic stresses. PLDs contained diverse structures, distinguishable biochemical and regulatory properties, which produced phosphatidic acid(PA)and participated in plant response to various stresses. This review summarized the current advances in regulating plant salt tolerance, and discussed the putative molecular mechanisms of PLD in sensing and response to salt stress, which might benefit the study of plant salt resistance and crop genetic enhancement.
