Abstract: Ammonia nitrogen is the main pollutant in wastewater, and directly reflects the degree of water pollution. Bio-treatment of ammonia-containing wastewater using bacteria has shown great advantages, such as timely degradation, easy operation,no secondary pollution. This aritical review outlines the ammonia-degrading mechanism, separation technique and the application of ammonia-degrading bacteria for wastewater treatment in recent years. And finally discusses the prospects of wastewater treatment using the treatment process.

Key words: Wastewater treatment, Ammonia-degrading bacteria, Ammonia-degrading mechanism, Separation
